JK Creative Wood will be holding their annual Open House the weekend of the Kalona Quilt Show and Sale on Friday, April 26 and 27, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.  JK Creative Wood is located at 2410 105 Street, northeast of Kalona.

Joan Gordon, a local Artist who does painting and prints of the Amish community, will be at JK Creative Wood during the Open House.  She will be painting an Amish 1-room Country School.  She is doing a series of Amish schoolhouses.

Prints and postcards of her illustrations will also be for sale. During the Open House, there will be specials on Amish handcrafted furniture.

There will also be samples of Amish made bread and jams plus coffee and other beverages available during the Open House.

“We invite everyone to come tour our store in the Amish countryside and to enjoy the many handcrafted items we have throughout our showroom,” said Karma Brokaw. “Watch artist Joan Gordon create works of the Amish. Joel will also be pleased to give you a tour of our workshop.”

Established in 1981, the 6th generation quality wood shop produces a variety of products. The items made by JK Creative Wood display their love of quality woodworking and their love of family working together.

The JK Creative Wood gallery is home to over 100 local and regional artists. The gallery includes handcrafted items such as the following:

  • JK Creative Wood’s signature desk and dining accessories
  • Quilts, rugs and jams made by Amish neighbors
  • Pottery, glass, puzzles, boxes and more
  • Custom made furniture made by Amish craftsmen

JK Creative Wood is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
