The Pleasantview Benefit is a 2-day event Oct 31 and Nov 1 and is an annual fundraiser for Kalona’s continuing care retirement center. It will raise funds this year to support the purchase of a new chiller to keep the residents, staff, and visiting family members cool. Any additional funds will be used for the general welfare of all Pleasantview residents. Beginning at 4:30 Friday, Oct 31, there will be a turkey tenderloin supper served until 7 pm and a silent auction which will end at 7 pm. A live auction will begin at 6 pm, pausing when the silent auction ends. Quilts, home-cooked meals, cheese, locally grown frozen meat, gift certificates, handcrafted items, and more will be auctioned until about 9:30 pm. Stop by the bake sale, and enjoy pie and ice cream throughout the evening. Saturday morning Nov 1 an all-you-can-eat pancake, sausage, and egg breakfast will be served 7-9:30 am, and the live auction will resume at 8:30, ending about noon when all items are sold. All are welcome to attend and experience the Kalona Country Charm at its best! Admission is free, and meals are sold on a donation basis--no tickets are sold.
